ACETIC ACID

ACETIC ACID

Acetic acid, systematically named Ethanoic Acid, is a colorless liquid organic compound. DAXX provides several dilution strengths of Glacial Acetic Acid. Many users of Acetic Acid prefer to store the material in the diluted form to avoid the expense of heated storage tanks that are required for Glacial Acetic Acid. When undiluted, Acetic Acid is sometimes referred to as Glacial, meaning water-free. Acetic acid is the main component of vinegar apart from water. This acid has a very distinctive sour taste and recognizable pungent smell. Acetic acid is one of the simplest carboxylic acids. It is an important chemical reagent and industrial chemical that is used in the production of plastic soft drink bottles, photographic film and wood glue. In households diluted acetic acid is often used as a cleaning agent. In the food industry acetic acid is used as an acidity regulator. Acetic acid is also a component of the vaginal lubrication of humans and other primates, where it appears to serve as a mild antibacterial agent.
