Paraformaldehyde is used as a substitute for aqueous formaldehyde when a higher active content and lower water content is required. Paraformaldehyde is also used in the production of phenolic, melamine, urea, and ion-exchange resins. Other applications include, organic synthesis for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and the production of dyes, leather, paper, and herbicides.
