Methyl Isobutyl Carbinol
Methyl Isobutyl Carbinol
Methyl Isobutyl Carbinol or referred to as MBIC is an organic chemical compound, is a liquid derivative of acetone with a pungent alcohol odor. It has limited solubility in water, but is miscible with most organic solvents.Methyl Isobutyl Carbinol is used as a solvent for dyestuffs, oils, gums, resins, waxes, nitrocellulose, and ethylcellulose. It’s also used in organic synthesis, mineral floatation, and in brake fluids. MIBC is a latent solvent for coating films, improving flowability, reducing viscosity and adjusting the cure rate. MBIC has uses such as diluent for hydraulic oil, foamer in mining, diluent for hydraulic oil, and solvent for nitrocellulose and methylcellulose lacquers, oil, ester gums, natural resins, phenols and waxes.
